Maine State History

This is the history of Maine. The Native people that settled in Maine were The Mi'kmaq, The Wolastoqiyik, The Abeaki, The Penobscot and The Passamaquoddy. The people that settled in Maine after it became a state were The Paleoindians. In 1820, 30 woman met to create the first women's club in America. Also the Aroostook War: Boundary dispute between Maine and New Brunswick. Maine was originally apart of Massachusetts. Maine became a state on March 15, 1820 as part of The Compromise of 1820. As part of the compromise. Maine became the 23 state to join the Union as a free state.
